Aquatic Plans (and then what really happens)

I think if you feed a dolphin, it is supposed to lead you to buried treasure :D Marko, I feel like you should take over a sunken shipwreck and have a posse of treasure hunting dolphins at your command :D

There does seem to be a lot in the latest snapshot, I explored a bit yesterday and found a 15x15 deep pool near the shore that had around 30 in it; lots of waving kelp= laggy! I felt that there were too many water type mobs and entities generally, spawn rates must be too high.

That looks awesome, Berg! the stairs (or are they slabs?), btw, its not a glitch. The water wont flow into them, but you can place water ON them to make them waterlogged.
I stacked up some stairs an emptied water into all the bits I could but find I can't empty a bucket onto these two locations...

the issue is they arent Depawning where all other mobs despawn when a player is 128 blocks away dolphins weren't and they were the only mob able to spawn soooo loads were spawning. but todays bug fixes has solved it (aparantly)

Do they follow passive mob spawning rules or the same rules that squids follow (most aggressive mobs)? I hope it's more like squids, because it really bugs me how wild animals depopulate with the age of a world.

Who experiences lag when playing these snapshots? I put some of it down to the lack of Optifine, but surely all those new entities and animated things are a heavy processor load? Wonder how the server version will cope

I get so much lag as to make it unplayable, and I have a fairly hefty machine. 16GB, 3.4MHz with 64 bit Windows 10. It actually hung up when I tried to reduce the viewing distance to see if that would help (I usually have it at 32 chunks).

Something doesn't sound right there, EZ... the snapshots are a bit laggy, but I can play them no bother at all on my MacBook and whilst it has a decent enough processor/etc, the GFX capabilities compared to a desktop PC will be rubbish.

I wonder if there's something else going on with your set up...

Mmm definitely summit up there EZ, it will run and be playable, albeit laggy with all those waving weeds and wee fishes, on an old iMac I have with a 2.4GHz proc and a mere 4Gb RAM and 256Mb Graphics, just tried it.

Other processes running, Windoze trying to update in the background, anti-virus or firewall stealing too much of the proc, old GFX drivers, malware, shortage of pecan cookies - the usual possibilities :D

I wonder if those memory leaks have been sorted yet...

I have managed to play the snapshots, and my chromebook is NOT made for playing games of any sort. that said, I have my viewing distance at, like, 10.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, we've not even had a pre-release yet. I don't think we're a long way off, but I'm expecting another couple of weeks at a minimum...
